Photograph the Keene Barn
New York › Keene Barn
Added by Rebecca Nichols
Photographed countless times this old red barn is truly a landmark to the area!
Every time I drive through this area my first thought is "Is the barn still standing". This beautiful barn is located at the intersection of Routes 73 and 9N in Keene. There is a large area off the road to safely park.
It's a sight every season with the layers of mountains as its backdrop.
The drive along Route 73 is stunning giving you views of many high peaks. You can also see other amazing sights to the area including Chapel Pond, Cascade Lakes, and the Ausable River.

Hike to Beaver Pond
New York / Appalachian Trailhead at Canopus Lake
Beaver Pond is a small body of water created by a dam that was constructed during the days of iron ore mining in the area. The pond is crystal clear and has a wonderful tree line right on the water.
Hike the Perkins/Fahnestock/Charcoal Burners Trail Loop
New York / Charcoal Burners Trailhead, Clarence Fahnestock State Park
This is one of my favorite hikes in the Clarence Fahnestock State Park. A real mixed bag but mostly very enjoyable. The trail starts at the Charcoal Burners Trailhead Route 301.
