Enjoy a short stroll to the picturesque Whitehouse suspension footbridge.

West River is a scenic, seasonal-use road in the hamlet of Wells that follows along the West Branch of the Sacandaga River.  There are several primitive campsites along the road.  You will park at the end of the road.

The trail begins on a well- beaten path at the parking area heading generally west.  At 0.1 you will reach a trail register at a junction.  Here you will take a left and walk a short ways to reach the Whitehouse suspension footbridge over the West Branch Sacandaga River.

You will also see a chimney in a small clearing at the front of the bridge.  This is all that is left of the remains of a summer camp recreation building which briefly flourished in the 1940's.
