My boyfriend and I went to NH with the intentions of climbing Mt. Washington, but due to the weather, could not. We found this hike through a sign at shopping outlets while trying to pass the time. We decided the weather had improved enough to continue on our hike and it ended up being awesome!! The Fire Tower at the top is really neat to climb into and gives you great views of the mountain range.

As I recall, the trailhead is unusual and tricky to find. It's located on Hurricane Mountain Road, which is a populated and residential area. Once you find the trailhead, it is easy entrance onto the trails. We hiked the most popular trail to the summit, the Mount Kearsarge North Trail, where we met only one other group of hikers at the top. The hike itself is a roundtrip of 6.2 miles (3.1 to the top), but the difficulty is just enough to make it a perfect day trip hike. The surface does get rocky towards the top as you are approaching the summit. At the top, you will find the Fire Tower and incredible views all around you. The Fire Tower is open to visitors and is a great place to eat something and rehydrate if you choose to do the hike all in one day. Another neat little bit is the toilet at the top (well, more like a wooden hole, but still cool). Enjoy!
