Description
Added by Tara Butler
A strenuous hike to the summit of the highest peak in the Northeastern part of the United States. Mount Washington is located in the Presidential range of the White Mountains in New Hampshire. The summit is also home to "the world's worst weather."
My hike began at Tuckerman Ravine Trail which branches off into the Boot Spur Trail at a junction. The elevation gain is approximately 4,300 feet and the hike to the summit totals around 5.4 miles. Throughout the hike you will encounter class 1-2 climbs. When climbing the summit, scrambling is required throughout rock fields with wind beating at you on certain days. For the route down, change it up by taking the Tuckerman Ravine Trail for about 4 miles, ending where you began at the Pinkham Notch Visitor Center. The trails tend to be busy due to the popularity of Mount Washington and the sights visible at the top of the summit.
