Not a morning person so I went for the sunset rather than sunrise and I think it was beautiful. It is quite touristy and busy at sunrise and sunset but a beautiful place for pictures.

There are so many hikes to do that you just can't do them all. I just stopped at one and began the hike. I saw 4 waterfalls along the way one of which I had to swim to get to. Make sure you are on the path though because you do not want to wander aimlessly through bamboo for you entire hike (we took a wrong turn and hiked a good while before realizing we were headed nowhere in particular). A good guide book helps. The only downside is that the Road to Hana is very windy and is the only way to the forests.

I had no idea the beauty and greatness I would find at Waimea Canyon but it was the highlight of my trip. I highly recommend taking an entire day dedicated to driving the entirety of the road and stopping at various viewpoints. I did a hike to the falls and it was magnificent. Definitely pack your camera and be amazed.
