This hike was an easy mile loop. It is up and down quite a few steps so if you have bad knees I wouldn’t try it but if you’re able you HAVE to stop here because the falls are stunning. And there is more than one waterfall to see on this little loop hike!

The stars from Mauna Kea are absolutely stunning. My only regret is that we didnt go up the mountain before dark because they close off the summit when the sun goes down but there is still a visitor center and a great viewing spot for stars. This easy drive is a must if you’re in the area.

My brother and dad did this trek together but I backed out last minute because I was worried about how strenuous the trek would be and when they got back I found that I was right. The bike ride in was an easy 4 miles and then another 2 mile hike in and 2 miles back and then 4 miles uphill back on the bike. Needless to say they were EXHAUSTED. But they said seeing the lava itself was one of the most incredible things, albeit extremely dangerous. There was nothing marked off and the lava flow looked a lot like all of the other rock on top so you had to be very careful where you stepped or you would be stepping in lava. This adventure is definitely for the adventurous.

My family and I toured this valley with some van tour in the area, I think the company’s name was Artwork? Anyways, this tour was AMAZING. So fun. It was only $59 per person. Which seems a lot but it’s a drop in the bucket when compared to the rest of the tour options which where $178 per person or more. Our tour guide was so friendly and knowledgeable and he took his time, it took about 2 and a half hours in total, all in all it was just a great time. We got to try fruits from the valley and get some great photos. Highly recommend.

This road was so beautiful. You could see the ocean driving down the volcano and we happened to be there right as the sun was going down over the water and it was stunning. Highly recommend.
