Wandercult's Home at the End of the World Project

An expedition in outdoors and outreach.

By: Mason Smith + Save to a List

A passion for the outdoors can have a profound and positive effect on any individual. This is also true for communities. In 2019 Wandercult will be spearheading an expedition to their hometown of Boulevard California (a high desert community an hour southeast of San Diego) and the surrounding areas of Jacumba and Bankhead Springs to demonstrate the benefits of outdoor recreation and encourage residents to conserve, protect, and enjoy the natural lands they call home. The expedition will consist of highlighting local bouldering routes, exploring hiking and mountain bike trails in the area, showcasing local campsites and attractions, as well as discovering some new ones. The team will create photo and video content during the duration of this project to present, first at the community centers in these towns, then released on a larger scale through various outdoor platforms. This expedition focuses on both outdoors and outreach, with the hope of breathing new life into these struggling high desert communities. At this time the project is still in the planning phase, the team will begin funding at the start of the new year with the kickoff of their kickstarter campaign.
