Photograph the Sunflowers at McKee-Beshers Wildlife Management Area

If you're coming from downtown Washington, DC, take the George Washington Memorial Parkway north and then get on the beltway (495) north. Take exit 39 to 190-W/River Road and stay on River Road for about 25 minutes. Look for a sign on the left for Hunting Quarter Road (sometimes it's covered by trees) and make a left there.

There are 3 parking areas along Hunting Quarter Road - The 2nd one you come to (the middle one that's actually on Hunting Quarter Road on the map) will be the best place to park for the easiest access to a sunflower field. Once you park here, it's just a short 2-minute walk to one of the fields. There's no entrance fee.

The fields are full of bugs so you may want to bring bug spray, especially if you plan on walking among the sunflowers. The sunflowers are also very tall so if you're short like me and you want to get nice shots of them from above, bring a step stool!
