Camping in Acadia State Park
Bar Harbor, Maine
Description
Added by Grace Brookshire
If you're going to camp in Maine, Acadia is the place to do so. The National Park offers great sites and facilities with quick access to some of the best spots in Maine.
The crisp crackle of our campfire joined the voices of fellow travelers which filled the air. Though the Acadia National Park Campground is not the place for backcountry camping, it was our favorite stop during our road trip up the coast of Maine. The people are kind, the air is crisp and the location is unbeatable. Summertime in Acadia provides the ideal camping weather. The cool evenings are the perfect opportunity to gather around the fire and listen to the stories of new campground friends. The sites are large and spacey and the facilities are well kept.
From the campground, you can walk a short distance through the woods and watch morning break over the beautiful rocky coastline. A short car ride will have you in some of Maine's best spots; Cadillac Mountain (a wonderful hike), Thunderhole, downtown Acadia, and even sailing in the harbor.
