This is like camping under a freeway underpass. It was a no for our family. Dozens of RV's with generators running, you couldn't even hear the waves over the hill 50 feet away. The amount of people and the set up was just unappealing.

Came late afternoon (timed for low-tide) and walked down the (longish) ramp. There are bathrooms halfway down (pretty clean) and little rise off showers. Great little beach for exploring tide pools with kiddos. We saw tons of hermit crabs and a starfish! The larger of the tide pools were also warmed up enough for kids to paddle in (we were there in March, ocean temp was about 60 degrees.) The views of the arches were great. It was a perfect little afternoon! Free parking on Ocean Ave right off Poppy.

A must see if you are at J Tree. It is awesome!

Great, small camp ground. Supposed to be tents only. Awesome for kids, like a huge playground! We actually ended up sharing site 9 with another family and it was plenty big. Room for two cars, grill & fire pit with grill. Very central to all the attractions at 29 palms (northish). We did the Arch hike (took about 25 mins with our 8 year old), Barker Dam (1 mile loop, took us 45 mins) and Hidden Valley (1 mile loop, 45 mins). Even if the signs say "full" always check around to see if you can share a site!
