Description

Run or Bike around the Historic Battle of New Orleans Battlefield. One of the most significant battles ever fought on American soil.

The Chalmette Battlefield and Cemetery offer a great opportunity for the entire family to learn about American history or go for a nice casual run/bike. Just 20 minutes south of New Orleans, The location of the famous Battle of New Orleans is surrounded by iconic Louisiana swamps and large oak trees. The 1.5-mile loop around the battlefield is a great place to bike, hike or run.

The loop and levee offers educational signs that describe significant locations, personnel, and timelines of the battle. Whether you drive, bike or run the loop, The Chalmette Battlefield grounds are a beautiful place to photograph and enjoy. The grounds also offer a museum located on the banks of the mighty Mississippi River.

After you work up an appetite, stop into the Arabi Food Store and Cafe. After growing up in New Orleans, this place in my opinion offers the best Po-Boy sandwiches in town. Grab a sloppy roast beef Po-boy and a Barqs root beer.
