A short walk brings you to a natural sandstone cave where the Manson Family once posed for LIFE Magazine.

My only hesitation in posting this (even though there's dozens of similar postings online) is that people will destroy what little history remains out here or incite further restrictions on the site. Please please please be discreet!

Drive up Santa Susana Pass Road until you reach Church at Rocky Peak. If it's a week day, and you're casual about it, you can park there and walk down the long driveway to the "ranch." You can also park somewhere along the road, but beware of speeding cars/curves!

Once you are across the road from the church, you're there! The flat expanse here was once the site of Spahn Movie Ranch, better known as the Manson Family compound during their years in L.A. This was their living space during the time of the infamous Manson murders and several other murders are rumored to have occurred at the ranch during those years. Tread carefully.

The Ranch burned down decades ago, but evidence from the fire and the ranch is still apparent. Please leave what you find for further visitors. As you walk toward the hills/the State Park, you'll find a deep ravine. Head to your right (facing the ravine) and drop down on one of the many trails. Some tracking skills should lead you right to the cave.

You might find other visitors, some of whom may be very "into" Manson, so again, be careful.
