Camping in Angeles National Forest
Palmdale, California
Description

This is an amazing area to camp in that takes less than an hour to get to from LA. You got great scenery and high elevation for perfect views of the stars.
Some friends and I wanted to go camping but we didn't want to take a day off work for the drive. After some research we found Angeles National Forest and gave it a shot. There are TONS of campgrounds and it shoots up in elevation rather quickly so you escape the LA 'feel',
We did a group campsite for about $25/night and had more space than needed, it was great. There was a bar/restaurant about 20 minutes away as well so when we ran out of some supplies, they hooked us up. You really feel like you're in another city - huge trees, wildlife, clean air and all within an hour drive.
This is more of a 'relax/chill' area as the hiking wasn't anything to run home about - but the views were great and it was a nice escape for a weekend getaway.
