Visit the Santa Monica Pier
Details
Added by Tori Marsh
The Santa Monica Pier is the perfect place to watch the sunset, play in the ocean, people watch, and eat all the fried food.
Although a popular tourist spot (especially in the warmer months), and usually crowded, the Santa Monica pier is a great spot to hang out year round. If you are looking to swim, chill on the beach, listen to live music, play beach volleyball, bodysurf, or people watch, this is the place for you! There is also an ample amount of restaurants on and off the pier, so you will never go hungry! If you're looking to escape the tourist crowds a little, wander off the pier, and there are many delicious spots on Ocean Ave.
For the best views of Santa Monica and the ocean, take a ride on the ferris wheel. Its about $5 per ride, and is a must do if you visit the pier. Much like many other fun zones, there are also a lot of games and other family friendly rides!
Although a little pricey (and trafficy, because... Los Angeles), there are multiple parking spots nearby. There is parking on the Pier deck, accessible via the ramp at Ocean Ave and Colorado. There are also two lower lots accessible via Appian Way.
