The hike to Goldbug Hot Springs was exactly like written up. This was an awesome stop while we were waiting poor weather at the summit of Borah Peak! Road to trail head is now paved. Many people at top soaking just before dark, who hiked down after dark. We camped above springs and went for morning soak around 7:15 a.m. There were already two different parties in pools by then, and we counted 26 people going up as we descended mid-morning. You may need to go up very early if you want more space for yourself. There are many hot pools on both sides of the bridge at top though, so room for lots of people.

Absolutely loved looking at iced waterfall, listening to water run under the ice and being mesmerized by light play of water running behind waterfall ice front. Easier hike than expected. Glad we had ice crampons for short traverse if ice. Better road than expected, as I’ve driven Subaru up many worse to other trailheads. My granddaughters first snow hike. Wonderful introduction to playing in the winter!

My son met us for family time together in May, after it had been raining quite a bit. The 3 toed tracks were easy to spot, although the deeper running water made the round ones disappear. It was a beautiful walk up the river and lots of fun to actually find the tracks. Then we headed for Leander and had a great lunch before parting ways. Loved the excuse to hav my son join us for an afternoon together.
