Welcome to the Old Gem Farm. A rustic 7-acre farmstead retreat located on the scenic High Road to Taos (New Mexico St Rd 76) in the Sangre de Cristo Mountains, it is halfway between Santa Fe to the south and Taos to the north.

We are set back about a 1/2 mile down an unmaintained dirt road in the mouth of the canyon. Be prepared for bumpy and possibly muddy conditions. 4-wheel-drive required in Winter.

Old Gem Farm is a quiet, secluded, yet easily accessible property that supports relaxation and healing through quiet communion with nature. We are a sustainability-focused farmstead- currently bringing what was once a vibrant organic farm back to life and production. The property is surrounded by Carson National Forest, with endless hiking- perhaps to Trampas Lake or fishing on the Trampas River. An ideal stop for anyone who enjoys the outdoors, rustic Northern New Mexico beauty, and the rich history of the area. A great stop for cyclists along the High Road.

The rental space is a detached strawbale casita about 100 yards from the main house. There is a kitchenette with mini-fridge, hot plate, toaster oven, and electric tea kettle for hot water. A solar shower is seasonal-available late May until the first frost.

Guests will have access to the strawbale casita. The studio is serviced by a composting outhouse. Solar shower addition to the studio is now open!

We are generally flexible when it comes to changes- please let us know if your party size increases so we can accommodate you better. We make special arrangements for pets and need to know if you plan to bring them in advance to ensure the safety of your pets and our farm animals. Any unannounced guests or pets will be charged an additional fee to be determined at our discretion.

Guests will be asked to sign a liability waiver upon arrival.

Our property can be difficult to find at night and ask that you plan to arrive before nightfall if possible. We have added lighting & signage to the entrance. GPS will not take you to the correct location- please refer to our directions for details on getting here. Also, we are in Las Trampas proper- Not Chamisal and Not Las Trampas Rd

The half-mile dirt driveway may be icy, muddy, and or very bumpy- drive with caution. You may park at the RTD stop (or take the bus!) by Las Trampas plaza and walk - about a mile. The studio is the first building on your left.
