Rustic Camping near the Susquehanna

Marietta, Pennsylvania

Pitch your tent on our 50 acre working farm near the heart of Lancaster County

This is a PRIMITIVE camping area in FULL SUN, located in one of our rockier meadows. We have a porta-potty on site, but no RV hook-ups or potable water. Please come prepared! The camping field is pretty firm, so you can pull up and park right at your site without getting stuck. We currently have four areas mowed that can easily accommodate 2 tents and 3 cars. There are fire rings at each site and one of the rings has a cooking grill attached. Looking for a shadier spot? Our fifth site offers some trees along the fence line in front of our farmhouse. Feel free to set up there. But please, no fires in this area and keep in mind the toilet will be farther away. Drager Farms specializes in raising 100% grassfed beef. We were thrilled to be the first farm in Pennsylvania to be dually "Certified Grassfed by AGW" and "Animal Welfare Approved" for our cattle raising practices. That means all of our animals are treated humanely from start to finish, without the use of GMOs, antibiotics or hormones. If you'd like to visit our retail store or take a tour of the farm and meet the animals, just let us know! Nathan or Christel can usually be found 'somewhere' on the property if you have questions, want recommendations on things to do, or need anything else. Text or call if you can't find us. ** We are also happy to host larger groups and events. ** ~  ~  ~  ~  ~  ~  ABOUT THE AREA  ~  ~  ~  ~  ~  ~   You'll be camping within walking distance of Riverfront Park, located along the Susquehanna River. Walking, biking, boating, and fishing are popular activities at the park. Hiking trails and rock climbing are a short drive away at Chickies Rock. Opportunities to view wildlife are abundant, including a herd of whitetail deer that like to hang out on our property at certain times of the year and an ever-changing assortment of birds. Fall asleep under the stars listening to the sweet chirps of crickets and frogs. You may even hear the rumble of a train passing in the night. The quaint Lower Susquehanna River Towns (Marietta, Columbia & Wrightsville) are not that far away. They're fun to explore, especially if you like antiquing or farmers' markets. And while you're in the area, be sure to check out some of the local Amish tourist attractions. Take a buggy ride, explore an Amish farm, or sample some delicious Pennsylvania Dutch specialties, like whoopie pies, shoofly pie or chicken corn soup.  ~  ~  ~  ~  ~  ~  HISTORY OF OUR PROPERTY ~  ~  ~  ~  ~  ~   Our farm used to be known as the "Wildcat Farm". Ulrich Engle and his wife Anna settled here in the 1750s, seeking religious freedom. The Wildcat Cemetery, located on our property, contains the inscription: "Within this enclosure lie the remains of Ulrich Engle and wife who emigrated from Switzerland to this country with their family of eight children in the year 1753 and settled on this homestead. Ulrich died about the year 1755 and his wife about the year 1759. Some of their descendants are also buried herein. This burial ground has been set apart as a resting place for them and as a memorial of respect and honor by their descendants." The existing bank barn and farmhouse, while not built by Ulrich, both date back to the mid-19th century.
