Plenty Star Ranch – Wilderness Glamping Cabin
Custer, South Dakota
Pristine Nature Hideaway, just 1.5 mile drive-in with your car.
This is "Wilderness Glamping" at its Finest! we have been told more than once now, that it is a dream for avid wilderness / primitive camper.
The rustic tiny little camping cabin has one double bed and a side table - that's it, no electricity, no running water.... BUT it sits at the edge of a breathtakingly beautiful meadow on our private property, surrounded by pine trees and unlimited National Forest, a fenced, but otherwise untouched 78 acre piece of land we call "Touch The Stars". You can drive up to it once we opened the gate for you after check-in at the main ranch house between 4 pm and 9 pm. We will take you up there along a maintained gravel Forest Service road (1.5 Miles) and you park right at the cabin. Enjoy the wildlife sitting around the campfire. Wake up to birds singing rather than traffic noise. Hike to the overlook....
Bring your friends - up to 4 more can be included in your booking. They will have to bring their own tents etc, but will share the facilities up there with you as well as all amenities at the main ranch.
8 x 10 rustic barn wood cabin, 1 double bed (always with fresh linens an towels), window, porch, parking in front, approved campfire pit, shed with flush-able camping loo and all sorts of things one might need, like 10 gallons of drinking water, paper dishes and paper towels, etc.,
Bring your own firewood. Also everything else you might require for camping without electricity, like flash lights and matches.
The cabin and loo shelter have solar lights attached. A solar shower tent structure is in the works and will soon be available up there. Otherwise we have that ready down at the ranch. Bring your own solar shower bags, please. i have a few here which I can fill with hot tap water in a pinch.
Just be aware that up at the cabin there is no electricity, no running water, although we have two 5 gallon drinking water containers there and you can use all the facilities at the main ranch/campground. There is also a 150 gallon water tank close by and a bucket to douse the campfire with. That is not drinking water quality, although the deer and other critters sure take advantage of it.
This cabin camping site at this remote location is NOT suitable for small children, preferably adults only. No pets either and definitely no smoking. No RV or other larger camping vehicles allowed at the Wilderness site since you have to drive through a shallow creek bed, which might get you stuck.
You have AT&T cell phone service up there. WiFi access at the main ranch.
You can of course use the solar shower and bathroom facilities at the main ranch/campground, Join us on our porch in the morning for coffee or tee, oatmeal and fruit, access to WiFi and a friendly chat. Let us know, if we can be of service in any other way etc.
Check out Jack and Isa's wood and artwork, while you are here or even book a always helpful and spot-on Tarot reading with Isa.
Check-In time is between 4 pm and 9 pm firm.
2 nights minimum.
