Hike to Eagle Rock

1.5 Miles Round Trip - 250 ft gain - Out-and-Back Trail

Eagle Rock Trailhead - Search Nearby - Added by Demetri Savas

Eagle Rock, an eroded dormant volcano, is one of the most breathtaking views in Tahoe, if not the best in my opinion. The coolest part (if you don't love long hikes) is that it only takes about 15-20 minutes to reach the summit to see the view. Overall, it's an incredibly easy hike for the payoff.

Starting at an outcrop off Highway 89 in Tahoe Pines, hikers make their way up the trail through a gradually sloping forest. Climbing rocks and logs, it is strenuous at times but only takes about 15-20 minutes to accomplish. Once at the top, the elevation is 6,286 feet and consists of an absolutely epic panoramic view of surrounding mountains, valleys, and lake.

Great hike and views even in the snow

Pretty short hike, but challenging after the large snow storm. Made it up with the dog without too much trouble. Great panorama of Lake Tahoe from the top. Handful of others on the trail on a Saturday in January. Definitely worth a stop. Dog-friendly is a huge plus for me

Great short hike with spectacular views

20 min hike from the parking area to the top. Not too hard not too easy. We took a 2 and 4 year old. They loved it. Views are perfect at the top We drove to vikingsholm and cascade falls which were packed and no parking. Came back here. Parked easily.

Short & Sweet

For how quick it takes to get up there, the gain of experiencing one of the prettiest Tahoe sunsets is incomparable. Usually there are always other people around, but hey, last night I met the cutest pup. Enjoy!
