Marlette Lake is a pristine and secluded lake that houses amazing trail, great swimming, and beautiful alpine scenery. Accessed from several different routes, you can mountain bike, snowshoe, or hike to this lake all year. This route is the "direct" route that takes you right up the mountain for shortest access point.

To get to the access point, go on US 28 from south (South Lake Tahoe) or north (Incline Village) and where the road intersects with Co Rd 291 Carson City, NV 89703 on the east side of US 28, there is a parking lot and an old fire road that heads up the mountainside. It is just north of Chimney Beach and just south of Sand Harbor on US 28.

This fire road will take you directly up the mountain at a pretty aggressive rate. I would suggest bringing at least 2-3L of water per person for the trip. If you are coming from the bay or other coastal regions, please take into account the altitude adjustment and prepare properly. About 1/3 of the way up the trail, you will run into a fork which you need to keep left. It will look like less of a trail but this is the correct way.

You will then make you way to the lake system and join up with the famous MTB trail called the Flume trail. You will see the lake and all it has to offer!

When heading back down, remember to GO LEFT as you exit the lake area. There is another trail that looks very enticing and more maintained. It is hard to determine the trail as you exit so just stay left and about 100 yards from lake end the trail picks up to take you back down.

IMPORTANT - you plan to fish this lake, it is only open for fishing a few times a month (July-August), and please procure a NEVADA fishing license for this trip.
