/ 1700 ft gain
The trail starts on a gravel road going up towards a water tower. A doubletrack trail takes off to the right and up the hill as you near the water tower. Take the this trail and this can be followed all the way up to the red rock view point. There are several, steeper, narrower trails branching off the doubletrack as you gain elevation that all head in the same general direction. Some of these ...

13.38 mi
/ 2200 ft gain
Beginning at the Ten Lakes trailhead, the trail to the lakes is a moderately strenuous uphill grind to Ten Lakes pass, followed by a quick downhill into the lake basin. We met a woman at the top who made sure we didn’t miss the short side trail to a vista point on the pass that offered a sweeping panorama of the basin and the Grand Canyon of the Tuolumne just to the north.
The official Ten Lak...

The hike to Rugghubelhütte can begin either in Engelberg, or as described here, at the top of the Brunni (or Ristis) cable car. It just depends how much elevation you want to hike. Rucu Pinchincha is an incredibly accessible (yet difficult) hike from Quito. If you're staying in the Old Town or Mariscal, it's a cheap cab ride to the base of the Teleferico (cable car) that will take you up to the start of the hike. The cable car opens at 9am most days, and costs 8.50 for foreigners.A 20 min ride brings you to almost 12.5k ft. There are a couple of shops and a viewpoint here...
Deepwater Soloing at Tonsai
Tambon Ao Nang, Thailand
5.0
There are a couple of outfits that do deepwater soloing tours in Krabi, but I went with Basecamp in Tonsai. For 700 baht (about $20 USD), you get a full day of climbing, including water, lunch, and climbing shoes. You'll start about 9:30, heading out on a longboat to a local island with a couple of prime soloing spots. Get accustomed to the climbing (and jumping into the water) at the first sit...

The classic “skyline” view is near the start, if you go in a counter-clockwise direction (but you can go either way).

You can also access Kincaid by riding right from downtown o...
