Remember the past, cherish the present, work for tomorrow

This is one of my favorite backpacking trips. Several options for campsites, including the beach. Take time exploring the tide pools during low tide and enjoy the beautiful sunsets. If you have ever wanted to do a backpacking trip on the coast this is the perfect spot! Make sure you get the appropriate permits, if you want beer for your trip you have to stop somewhere before Neah Bay and stop by Calvins Crab Shop on your way out for great fish and chips!

If you come here during the off season you will have the isolation you are looking for. There was one other tent set up and we never saw the group. Wake up early to enjoy the sunrise and view of the gorge. We saw several Bighorn Sheep in the area, they walked right through our campsite the second night we were there. There are several campsites in this area of NM, but the gorge gives you a phenomenal view and there are a couple of great trails in the area. And it's dog friendly!!

If you are driving through I highly recommend stopping here, the gorge is beautiful, especially for a sunset or sunrise. There are plenty of things to do in the Taos area, this is an easy spot to get to, you will appreciate just how small we are by the size of the gorge.
