Kelly Park

This is a short hike with great payoff! The 360 degree views at the top are amazing and I love how it's dog friendly despite the short rock scramble (my dogs love to climb!). The campsites are nice and I had it all to myself -- it was a great way to catch the sunset and sunrise without rushing or hiking in the dark.

Loved this hike / campsite. There are "chairs" made out of stones at the campsites so you even get backcountry camp chairs! The trail isn't marked but there are plenty of cairns -- although it can still get a little confusing so make sure to bring a map!

Oh man! Made a wrong turn somewhere and it turned into a 12 mile hike! The hike to the top was in the woods with no scenery so it was incredibly repetitive. But the summit WAS beautiful and the falls were tall and magnificent. If you want to avoid the park entrance fee, you can park for free on VA630 and do the hike bottom to top (instead of top to bottom on skyline drive). There is a "secret" locals spot about a mile in -- a multi-level swimming hole (2-3 pools!) perfect for a picnic or a dip!

It's amazing to have this trail so close to the city! The hike is so fun with great views and rock scrambling -- it's the perfect day trip for a work out and some fresh air. It has gotten INCREDIBLY crowded ever since President Obama visited -- sometimes a two hour wait to drive into the parking lot on the weekends. Try to go on a weekday if possible!

Loved this trail -- ocean views, a bamboo forest, pools, and a waterfall! It does get incredible hot on the exposed parts of the trail so bring plenty of water. Make sure you go a little passed the sign at the end of the trail to get a close up of the waterfall.

The first 3/4 mile is steep and challenging but it soon levels off to the ridge line with beautiful mountain views. There are tons of great, almost private, campsites near the summit and a perfect beginner's backpacking trip.

A stop here is required if you're driving down highway 1. The falls are a little difficult to photograph as there is no beach access and it appears super tiny from the view point. Save $10 by parking on the side of the road outside the state park -- there is a trail leading right down from the road (same distance of not shorter than the park entrance!)

Maligne Lake is a bit more of a drive than the other Jasper attractions but worth the trip for a beautiful lake with quaint boathouse and fewer crowds. There are multiple trails that circle the lake and photo ops galore!

This gorgeous turquoise blue lake begs to be photographed! It's a MUST to rent a canoe and feel the serenity of floating on the middle of the lake surrounded by mountains and forests. The hike is just challenging enough to get in a good workout and the teahouse at the top is the perfect reward.

Went in the winter time and only ran into two other groups on the trail. It can get pretty slippery and I had to slide down some parts on my butt to avoid falling. The waterfalls are frozen / suspended and it literally looks like a winter wonderland!

This is a perfect day hike if you have a couple days in Supai. There are tons of cliff jumping spots and multiple pools to wade around in. Bring snacks, lunch, and even an inner tube if you packed one in! It's a fun/easy hike and the vine fields along the way are green and beautiful!

Such a beautiful hike with so many different terrains and landscapes! I felt like I was somewhere far far away from Virginia! There are tons of great backcountry campsites as the trail is located along the AT. It's super dog friendly and the ponies come right up to you!

We almost skipped this hike but glad we did it! Great short hike and beautiful little beach and waterfall! I would love to come back with my dogs in the summer!

I came in the winter and it was beautiful with the lakes frozen over. It WAS freezing though prepare accordingly -- my phone died multiple times due to the cold. I did rent snowshoes but they weren't really necessary as long as you're careful in the deeper snow areas.

Really cool and an iconic Alberta Waterfall. The tour buses drove me crazy though! Would love to come back at a less crowded time.

Very short and sweet with a cool waterfall. Not quite sure why it's not dog friendly though as it is not difficult and there are no rock scrambles.

Fun and challenging with waterfalls galore! The rock slide is fun if you go in the summer but the frozen waterfalls look amazing in winter photography!

Did this hike as an afterthought on our final day in Alberta -- we were tired but glad we decided to go. It's short and sweet and the famous "secret spot" off the trail is a must have Instagram shot!

This was my very first hike and what got me hooked. It's pretty strenuous and can get incredibly hot in the summer due to direct sun exposure. I love the rock scrambling at the end -- it's a nice little break from the endless switchbacks! The only reason I don't do this hike more often is that it's not dog friendly.

This is the perfect Shenandoah Day hike. It's close to the park entrance, you'll get your heart rate up, and the view is incredible!

Came during a dry time and unfortunately the waterfall wasn't much to look at. Would love to come back in the Fall after some rain fall!

Although secondary to Hanging Lake, this little waterfall is still worth a visit (super short side trip!) while you're here. I came in the winter and the water was freezing before it reached the stream -- very cool effect!

Gorgeous and a must do but it's not quite as easy as it looks. Although you don't face steep inclines and sun exposure, you will have to fight the current, slippery rocks, and icy cold water.

It took me 3 attempts to finally make it to the top of Angels Landing -- because I'm terrified of hikes! The hike is still worth it even if you skip the final chain portion -- a great workout and amazing views. It has unfortunately been getting extremely popular and crowded as of late.
