This was an awesome backpacking experience for a couple of beginners. It wasn't too strenuous to the Upper East Inlet campsite. We had an area to cook away from our tent. The views were gorgeous. After about 2 miles there were few people on the trail, especially compared to the east side of the park. I would recommend the hike to anyone and think it's a great trip for someone who wants to get their feet wet with backpacking!

This was a great long hike to do in 1 day. It definitely had an authentic Utah feel. The initial few miles descend, which made the final miles quite difficult but completely worth it. We had amazing weather. The hike is by a stream for a lot of the hike and there are plenty of opportunities to filter water.

We actually did this hike as the pinnacle of our vacation. It took us exactly 12 hours to complete the loop with numerous stops along the way at Holly Lake, lunch on the divide, at quite awhile at Lake Solitude. I completely recommend doing this as either a day hike or as a multi day backpacking trip. The views are the best in the park and I sincerely count this day as one of the best in my life. Remember to make a lot of noise in the morning when you start to alert the wildlife you're up with them!

We did this as a day hike at the end of our trip. The switch backs can be exhausting if you're already pooped from a big week. It's not the most beautiful hike in the park but the views at the end are magnificent and completely worth the effort!
