This was seriously perfect for a Monday morning stroll. Super easy and insanely beautiful. Just when you think you’ve seen the most beautiful view, you turn the next corner and are in awe again. Do yourself a favor and take the mini excursion down to Fern Grotto Beach. When you get down turn right and go to the cave...you’re welcome. I had a lot of spare time so I ended up trekking all the way out to 4 mile beach and it was “eh” (don’t get me wrong, you are still watching massive waves crash against the rocks while you walk along the bluff next to pelicans and sea gulls...so it’s not like you are looking at garbage, it just pales in comparison to what you saw on this trail.) next time I’ll just do this loop twice.

First off, I have to agree with a previous review and encourage you to follow the description for directions and not maps. Maps will lead you to Krazy Acre Ln but you'll see the sign for the parking lot long before you hit Krazy Acre. The first half of the hike (to the limestone) I'd rate beginner to intermediate. It was relatively easy. There are a few small forks in the road but I just always hung left and ended up at the limestone kiln. After that the trail up (and I do mean UP) to Big Ben is definitely a more advanced hike. Pretty steep for about 2 miles. Once you summit, the hike back is one of the most beautiful I've ever done. Lush trees, flowing rivers. It's breathtaking (and downhill.) As difficult as some of this hike was, it was totally worth it.

I made the mistake of heading out on Labor Day. The place was packed. But once I got on the trail, it thinned out. First note: trail head isn't marked. It actually is down by the parking lot (there is a "y" and you head to the left. Second: missed the (also unmarked) right hand turn onto Middle Ridge Rd. So I kept taking Gazos Creek and then turned right onto Creeping Forest Trail and headed towards Dool Trail (seeing that I could intersect with Middle Ridge later). Third: hit the summit and it was super disappointing. Not only was there a line to go up to the lookout point (because a small group of was eating lunch) but the actual "ocean view" was pretty small and blocked by fog. Lastly: the best part of the hike was the Meteor Trail. Super beautiful and lush. Definitely glad it finished that way because if you were to walk up meteor to the summit it's pretty steep for little reward. Overall I'm glad I did the hike but don't know if I'd hurry to do it again.

Took this hike out to Grass Lake with my wife and it is officially one of our favorites. Every corner you turn holds breath taking views and it's a pretty easy hike so you can take it all in. The directions to the trail head are wrong but Siri knew where I needed to go. We ended up parking about a half mile from the trail head because the road in was narrow and congested but the spot we found to park was right next to another waterfall. The hike itself is primarily on rocks but very few inclines and could easily work for a family with kiddos. We'll definitely be back, hoping to go a little further next time to Susie Lake.
