The brand Copywriter is a creative force, a natural born storyteller and expert communicator. They will provide editorial leadership and be instrumental in developing our voice and refining our tone. They will collaborate closely with partners in Marketing, Design, and Product. They will be responsible for developing compelling stories that unfold across all our platforms: web, email, social, retail, and all marketing collateral. The Copywriter is the champion of the brand voice, maintains and develops it, and ensures that our voice remains consistent and true to our brand values across the board. The Copywriter manages multiple projects and tight deadlines with ease.


  • Provide editorial leadership in developing content solutions that support business goals and brand strategy.
  • Play an instrumental role in developing our voice, defining our tone, our style, determining the language we use, and the language we avoid.
  • Drive the brand forward with innovative thinking and fresh ideas, and set the language standards that will take us into 2017 and beyond.
  • Be a creative partner to the Marketing team in how we approach our communication strategy.
  • Deliver copy that communicates effectively and embodies (and resonates with) the lucy woman. Lucy is empowering. Enduring. Engaging. Inclusive. Unapologetic. Provocative. Real. Bright. Bold. Confident. Original. Our copy should be the same.
  • Apply research to the delivery of creative marketing campaigns and the development of brand voice.
  • Build and maintain a broad library of varied brands, inspiration, and resources to research.
  • Share relevant research for each brief with the marketing design team and project managers.
  • Interpret briefs to identify and deliver multiple creative solutions to deliver the marketing message.
  • Identify what part of any given campaign/story will make the most compelling customer facing storytelling.
  • Take the time to fully understand what is needed for each brief, and how the business needs can be interpreted into a compelling customer-facing experience.
  • Be a creative problem solver and deliver multiple solutions for each brief, each with a unique, original angle on how to tell any given story.
  • Define and implement language standards, so that all lucy communication is consistent in its delivery. 
  • Take risks. Be creative.


  • Minimum of five years’ experience in Marketing Communications and writing/content development experience.
  • Educational/Position Requirements: Bachelor's degree.
  • A deep, genuine, and passionate understanding of market trends, digital trends, and relevant popular culture and language, so that our marketing copy remains forward facing and ahead of the curve.
  • The ability to identify and explore the nuances in tone and language that make the difference between effective, memorable communication and language that falls short.
  • Well-rounded knowledge of local, national, and global trends in fitness, culture, women’s issues, news, fashion and lifestyle, to maintain a fresh perspective.
  • Maintain high standards. Obsessive attention to detail. Self-edit and proofread copy to ensure that the message speaks to the target audience and is consistent, grammatically correct, and embodies the brand voice.
  • Stellar collaboration skills. Partner with design and project managers so that final deliverables are consistently polished.
  • Strong conceptual and presentation skills.
  • The ability to manage multiple projects and tight deadlines.
  • Travel Required: 5%
