Thoughts While Road Tripping Around Iceland

Wow, the weather really does change every 20 minutes...

By: Jess Fischer + Save to a List

I spent the end of September road tripping around Iceland with my boyfriend. We drove about 1,840 miles and spent countless hours in the car, which means I had a lot of time to reflect over the events of the day or what we had experienced thus far. Along the way I jotted down some little notes and going back over them I couldn't resist the urge to pick out a few of my favorite quotes and share:

OMG WATERFALL!

Damn it's raining. *20 minutes later* WOOO we're so lucky look at how sunny it is! *30 minutes later* Warm feeling gone, it's raining again *3 minutes later* Did I just feel hail? Wow, yep, it's literally hailing on us...... Do I see the sun?

How the H-E-double-hockey-sticks do those sheep get up so high on those cliffs?!

AHH WHAT this waterfall is amazing!

Pickled lamb and shark? Huh? Would Vikings take this stuff on their ships when they went places?

No such thing as traffic jams, just sheep jams hehehe

Excuse me how do you say Eyjafjallajökull? Plus every other word in your language?

WATERFALL!

Oh, there are trees here...

LOOK AT ALL THESE WATERFALLS!

Laughing at myself for thinking $3 a gallon for gas was expensive back in high school....

Has it seriously been sunny all day?

I think I might hate hiking.

OMG the Northern Lights are real and they're amazing

*watches Northern Lights for 5 hours and doesn't sleep*

Puffins? Like, to eat? Eh sure why not, lets try it.

WATERFALL!!!

Wow there are a lottttt of sheep on this island.

Wow why can't all Americans be as nice as Icelandic people?

Wow didn't we just fill up the tank like two seconds ago?

*After an hour of driving in the Westfjords* Never driving on dirt roads again

I want a Land Rover Defender, like really bad...

I never want to leave Iceland...

(Our road trip started in the south. We stayed in Vik and explored all the way to Jökulsárlón. We then headed northwest up into the Westfjords. From there we came back down the west coast and ended our trip in Reykjavik)
