Snorkeling on Ambergris Caye

Ambergris Caye is an island off mainland Belize which stuns in scenery as well as local cuisine and culture. But the underwater world found by snorkelers and divers is perhaps it's most intriguing sight.

We spent the day snorkeling just offshore from San Pedro.

We borrowed kayaks from The Dive Bar, a local joint on the north side of town, and paddled out to the barrier reef.

I left with a sunburn across my back, but a delightful photo collection of underwater creatures which I'd never seen before.
