I had never seen so many hot-air balloons in one place before. The whole experience is kind of mesmerizing. The ABQ Balloon Fiesta is one of the very few places I actually didn't mind the crowds. Get there before sunrise around 5am to watch the set-up, maybe even help a crew out. I ended up on the Smokey the Bear chase crew, riding on the back of a 1950s fire engine. It was a cool experience. When back at the field it turns into one giant tailgate party. The green chile breakfast burritos at the food stands are a must.

Perfect hike to inspire you to go farther into Cascade Canyon and a hike up to Lake Solitude. Go early to beat the crowds. Take the boat toward the trailhead just because it feels like you're riding into Jurassic Park.

Gorgeous hike, but that kind of goes without saying as everything is gorgeous in the Tetons. Since the hike is easy I'd recommend going early. The place gets swarmed with people after about 9 or 10 am. As with most hikes, the earlier you go the better. Like Christina said below me in the reviews make sure you bring bear spray. Probably not a bad idea anywhere in the Tetons.

Seeing Cannon Beach for the first time if you've seen the Goonies is like visiting Forrest Gump Hill in Monument Valley for moviegoers. It's not just iconic for the movies, but it's truly a wonderful spot to hang out if you can get past the overwhelming number of tourists that visit. Perfect place to start a road trip down the PCH.

Tempe Town Lake is in my backyard, so I'm a little biased. Great spot for sunset but also for paddle boarding, dragonboat racing, and a handful of other activities. Mill Ave is the heart of Arizona State University's college town in Tempe, so it's also a great place to grab a beer, eat some good food, or see a movie. A lot to do in the area.

I've been to Monument Valley multiple times; sometimes just to take friends who have never seen it or don't even realize "the place Forrest Gump ended his run" is roughly in their backyard. This view is one of those that never gets old. Good at both sunrise and sunset!

Cliff Dwellers is a pretty cool stop right off Highway 89A. There are massive boulders all around the area that look like they fell from Marble Canyon. Decent stop to stretch your legs and use a port-o-potty if you're heading farther north toward the North Rim of the Grand Canyon or South toward Page. It also helps break up the monotony of the barren desert you feel like you're endlessly driving through.

I've only hiked this during the winter. One year it had fresh snow and a lot of ice, which made it far more enjoyable to admire than climb the final ascent; the other it was clear. I highly recommend gloves for the cold chains. Also, when you get to the top it can get very windy. In the winter that makes it a bit unpleasant. Overall, though, a blast of an adventure. Not particularly scary like I thought it would be if there isn't any ice. It's a routine stop every time I go to Zion.
