Experience Iceland's largest waterfalls and a highlight on the golden circle adventure.

The infamous Gullfoss Falls are about 45 minutes from Strokkur, and they have a peaceful calm about them.

With the temperature never really going much above freezing during the winter you get these beautiful ice sculptures with water flowing through them.

Most definitely a worthwhile spot on any Icelandic adventure.

I visited Gulfoss in early November with my wife and kids. It was only a short walk to the falls, which even our kids with mobility limitations were able to do. Both the upper and lower viewing areas offer stunning views of Gulfoss. Truly incredible piece of Creation.

My sister and I stopped at Gullfoss, which was beautiful, but it is a tourist destination. There is minimal walking to get to the different viewing points for the falls. Sometimes the big tour buses will flood the parking lot with tourist so it's not exactly a quite place but take in the view while you can, its worth seeing.

For anybody on this site we are generally looking for some sort of adventure right? This entails about 100 feet of walking and then jostling for a position to see the falls. AND I was there in the shoulder season. If you have limited time in Iceland, go for it, easy drive from Reykjavik, but if you have some time, spend it elsewhere

The Geyser, Strokkur, has a small rest stop built around it and after parking, you will walk about five minutes north of the road. From the visitor center there are several trails that lead into the countryside. Take the obvious trail down the ramp and into the gap where you can explore the beautiful terrain, waterfalls and historic sites. You could easily spend an entire day hiking around and having fun.
