Amazing views, rustic backpack camping, no cell service

This park is incredible. It really has it all. There are two AMAZING vistas ("Canyon Vista" is the one its known for) which you can drive to if you have young children or handicapped individuals with you that just can't make the hike. The views cannot be beat. There are also over 100 miles worth of trails within the park itself. Apparently you can even hike to nearby (not THAT nearby) Ricketts Glen park if you've got a few days on your hands. We chose to explore Old Loggers Path and were really happy with that decision. It is about 25 miles, (we took a long weekend for the trip) and includes views, no cell service (bonus points!), and crystal clear water for cooling off or jumping into. The rocks around the water looked perfect for bouldering, however we didn't get the chance to test them out. We checked in with the forest rangers before our hike (just to be safe) and couldn't have been more impressed with how kind and helpful they were. I was hoping to see a bear (its black bear heaven!) but no luck. Maybe next time. I 100% plan on going back; there was too much to see and do for a single weekend.

Unfortunately I forgot my camera, so all of the attached pics are from a cell. Luckily the place was pretty enough that it didn't need any fancy cameras!

Hidden Gem Alert: This park is pretty well documented online, so in terms of "hidden gems" there aren't too many. HOWEVER! On route 87 there is a place called "Becky's Sunset Icecream". We vistited there just after sunset but before last light. It was amazing. Its a small hut on the side of the road at the foot of the mountains. After grabbing some ice cream there are benches and tables to sit around outside and just enjoy the area. Highly recommended!
