Hike the Aiea Loop Trail

5 Miles Total - Loop Trail

Originally added by Erik Holmes

The Aiea Loop is a great, easy hike right outside of Waikiki. There's not a lot of elevation change but great mini-views of the Wai'anae Range. This is a great option for families looking for some activity but not too strenuous.

The Aiea Loop trail is actually located in the Keaiwa Heiau State Recreation Area. The trail runs along the ridge on the west side of Halawa Valley. There are some peek-a-boo views of the southern coastline and Wai'anae Range. If you are a leisurely hiker, allow 2.5-3 hrs for the hike.

It's an easy hike, not very demanding in terms of changes in elevation. However, there are portions of the trail where you will have to climb over downed trees AND if, for whatever reason, you decide to hike the trail directly after a rainfall be prepared to get muddy and slip as the trail itself is a dirt trail.

Definitely hiked this after a rain & was covered in mud! Also, highly recommend bringing some bug spray.
