Makapu‘u Tidepools

Makapu'u Point Lighthouse, Makapuu Lighthouse Road, Honolulu, HI 96825, United States - Search Nearby - Added by Kristian Champagne

Trek down the side of a cliff to the turquoise Makapu‘u tide pools.

Navigate to the Makapu‘u Point Lighthouse on Oahu. There is a parking lot at the bottom of the Lighthouse trail. Take the trail for a mile up the cliff toward the lighthouse. There will be 3 lookout platforms. When you get to the third platform there is a small trail to the left hand side. There are signs that say "Do not go beyond this point" so enter at your own risk. The trail down the cliff is fairly visible and there are even spray painted arrows on some of the rocks. When you get toward the bottom watch out for blow holes and slippery rocks. Be cautious when in the pools, the closer you are to the ocean the more likely you are going to get slammed with a wave.
