The snowpack was good this year, so the stream was flowing hard and fast. It made for some epic waterfall photos. The trail itself is really fun to hike. It basically has three parts. The first was a nice walk around the lake past all the cabins I wish I lived in. The second followed the stream up the canyon. The last part was a scrambly finish to the bath. My Strava clocked it at 8 miles with a few little side trips off trail. Absolutely amazing hike. Will do again.

Can't beat the views at the top! Fun hike up and an even more fun slide/hike down. This was recommended by all the locals. The response we got from people after the hike was "Awesome! Did you slide down on your butt??" We responded, "Yes!". Sliding probably cut out 1/4 mile of hiking. We hiked to the Flattop at the end of March were it was a little icy on the trail. Micro spikes would have been helpful as I would have felt a lot safer on the way up.

Since this hike is so close to town and is relatively easy and short with amazing views, Tunnel Mountain is the most popular hike in Banff. I hiked it in the winter which was nice because it was cold and the trail was a little icy. That deterred the huge crowds and I got to enjoy the fantastic views of the valleys and towering snow covered peaks. If you hike it in the winter bring some micro spikes, so you don't fall on your bum. Worth it!
