School Bus Graveyard in North Georgia
Alto, Georgia
Description
Added by Emily Elsey
This is a great place to capture photos of graffiti and visit a car and bus junkyard.
Location: Alto, GA on the intersection of Tommy Irvin Parkway and Crane Mill Road
Owned by a man that owns Alonzo Wade's auto shop right next to the school buses
My friend and I went on one last photography adventure before we head off to college this fall. We went to the auto shop, introduced ourselves to the man there, and he told us all about the junkyard. There is a 20 dollar fee and wavier to go into the junkyard section which seemed to be more old cars and buses decaying into the Earth slowly. For free we were allowed to walk the perimeter of the junkyard which is lined with the graffiti covered school buses. Every year there is a raffle that artists can apply to enter and the names pulled get to painted their art onto the school buses, so essentially it is an ever changing process. We got a lot of great shots and then went to Jaemor farmers market down the street to each Georgia fresh peaches.
The buses get repainted during the fall.
