Explore Lula Lake Land Trust

Lula Lake Land Trust may only be accessible on the first and last Saturday of every month, but a visit to this North Georgia park is well worth planning for. It offers a small, but beautiful lake, a large waterfall, and over 6 miles of trails for hiking or biking. The 1-mile level gravel road from the parking area to the falls and lake is the easiest path, but exploring the web of forest trails does not disappoint. Middle Trail tends to be the most popular at a quick 1.7 miles to the lake and Upper Falls, then less than .5 mile stroll to the larger Lower Falls, but there are a handful that you could easily explore within a few hours. Grab a map at the check-in desk in the parking lot and wander on.

Because Rock Creek is a high mountain stream, the flow of the falls is dependent on recent rainfall. For this reason, Autumn seemed to be an ideal time to visit the trust, but don't let lack of rainfall deter you from visiting. Because the trust is located near the top of Lookout Mountain, the vistas and other geological features make Lula Lake a beautiful place to visit year round.

Winter operation is from December through April, and Open Gate Days occur on the first and last Saturday of each month; exact dates are listed online here. Saturday hours are 9:00 AM ET - 3:30 PM ET. All visitors must exit the property by 5:00 PM ET. Reservations are booked in advance on a first-come, first-served basis. Cancellations and refunds can occur anytime up to 48 hours prior to the Open Gate Day event. A wait list will be established should cancellations take place. There will be a $15.00 per car Conservation Use Fee for the reservation, and 100% of the proceeds go back into the preservation of Lula Lake. One reservation equals one parking space—buses, passenger vans, and extra-large vehicles will not be permitted due to capacity restrictions.
