Experience some of the best views of Lake Allatoona on this moderate loop trail. Pack a lunch and stop at one of the sand beaches along the way to take in the cool breeze and relax.
This hike begins at the visitor center alongside the Sweet Gum Trail and the Lakeside Trail. It's a quick and easy 1-mile walk until the beginning of the scenic 3.5 mile loop which is clearly marked by yellow paint. The trail reaches a maximum of approximately 1200 feet elevation with several ascends throughout.
Scattered throughout the loop are enchanting boulder-crested creeks and wildflower patches. Additionally, the small sandy beaches on the lakeshore are secluded and serene - perfect for a private picnic. Finally, the Homestead Trail boasts of various wildlife; finish up your hike around dusk and you may pass a Whitetail Deer family on your way out!
