Despite the constant switchbacks and hot sun in mid-July, this hike is well worth it. Extremely secluded, with 360-degree views of surrounding peaks and a great fire lookout that you can stay in, there is nothing that this trail leaves you wanting. When I went up in mid-July 2021, there was a good amount of snow at the end of the trail, so bring microspikes and a GPS so you can find the trail. Also when I went up, maintenance was being done to the lookout so I wasn't able to stay in the lookout, but now the whole thing has been repainted.

Did this one about a year ago, trails were well maintained, although the campsites around Waptus lake had more than a few fallen trees, though I'm sure they've been cleared by now. Absolutely beautiful sunrise. Most of the trail is up and down, not extremely difficult although we didn't end up making it all the way to Spade lake since we ran out of time. Highly recommend it and will do it again.
