This is an easy hike for incredible sights. There is now a rope ladder for the drop. Though I don't know if it's made it any easier. For those who would rather go around it, you can go back out of the canyon and on the left there are cairns that will lead you up and around the drop. You'll find yourself at the end of the slot but you can just hike up to where the ladder was before continuing on.

There is no clear defined trail. At times the trail will split or disappear, then you'll find it again after navigating over some rocks or tree roots. Just keep on a trail near the creek and it'll get you there.

The trailhead is located in the Bayview Campgrounds across from Inspiration Point. Parking can be difficult with those trying to access Inspiration Point. It's an easy but the trail gets pretty rocky and narrow. I didn't find that a drawback. It actually made the hike more fun.

I was here during the summer and it's very dry and hot, so get an early start on this one and drink lots of water. There's a water fountain right before you cross over the bridge. Make sure to fill up before and after! Won't lie, that first mile hiking up Smith Rock was hard. It gets real hot, real fast. There's not much shade to rest in. But after the first mile the rest is a breeze. Absolutely breathtaking. You won't regret it!

I agree with the author. Take the 0.5 hike! It's a super easy hike for the entire family and builds you up for the main attraction. Also, there are times where the trail splits up for those biking and those hiking. You can choose to walk the bike trail but take the hiking trail. It takes you pretty close to the water at points and it's beautiful!
