We went on a Sunday in August around 9:30am and the springs were already full of people. It was mostly one large group. The road to get there is rough in places but no 4wd needed. The walking trail is steep and slippery in sections. We did see one snake so just be aware with your kids and dogs. Also saw some litter around the area so please leave it as clean or cleaner than when you arrived. The parking lot is very sloped and is right above the springs so a worst case scenario is someone forgets to set their parking brake and a vehicle rolls down the hill into the springs full of people. So please set you parking brake and maybe use a rock to chalk your tire. And on that note, enjoy the springs!

Seasonal waterfall so go after recent rain and best to go in late march/ early april for wildflowers. Bring poles for the uphill climb and the downhill to save your knees. Don’t forget that you will have to pay the entrance fee to Del Valle Regional Park. And a permit is required to hike the Ohlone Wilderness trail. Permit is $2 and you can pay online a week in advance or go to the visitor center during normal hours the day of your hike.

I love running at Redwood! The west ridge and east ridge offer very different worlds that you can mix and match depending on the weather and time of day. If you are looking for a nice shaded canopy then stick with the west ridge and drop down into the canyon of redwoods. If you are looking to warm up in the sun and get some great views of the east bay hills then check out the east ridge. It's all good in Redwood!

Yes it is crowded almost every weekend after the snow melts but campsites are aplenty near and around the big lake. Beautiful sierra lake that is relatively easy to get to. And it has a great name.
