Can't go wrong with this short hike with a punch. Chauncey Peak is a perfect get away for the day.

This loop follows the blue against the reservoir where it will break off to the left (this is a longer hike ~ 6.3 miles that'll eventually get to the peak), but if you're looking for this short hike, keep following the water side where it will meet the white trail for a short distance.

Note: Some of the trail markers aren't very clear with a few unmarked trail as an option. The trail map is a good guide, but I found myself jumping between the blue and white markers.

When you get to the end of the reservoir take a left, then there will be a split - cross the small wooden plank to the right and ascend upwards (this will be the most strenuous part of the hike, it's basically the whole incline to the peak. Be extremely cautious in wet/snowy weather! Or in general... lots of branches, roots, and rocks.)

From the top, you keep following the blue and there will be endless viewpoints that'll get you looking at every opening! Eventually, you'll also find white trail markers that follow right on the ridge line. It's beautiful, but be very careful!

*Be sure to bring what you need to enjoy the view. You'll get a great view of the park and see the town from up here.

To descend back down, just keep following the blue through the forest full of switchbacks and you get at the base of the reservoir where there is a wall that forms a nice little waterfall. What a way to end the hike...and obviously you can do this the other away around as well. I thought starting the loop on the left seemed easier.
