Description

Added by Danny McGee

One of Colorado's most bizarre and beautiful landscapes only becomes more stunning as the sun sets to the west.

The Great Sand Dunes National Park and Preserve is an incredibly beautiful place. The flowing sand dunes stand in stark contrast to the towering Sangre De Christo Mountain range that looms above. Home to the tallest dunes in North America, the park sits right at the foot of Blanca Peak. The park is open year round and has stunning views from every angle. You are free to roam among the dunes as you please, but they especially come alive near sunset. The flowing dunes seem to weave in and out of each other forming a surreal landscape. In early spring a small stream flanks the dunes which only enhances the stunning scene.
