Explore the Overlooks of Black Canyon
Montrose, Colorado
Description
Added by Kristen May
Black Canyon is a much less visited national park than the Grand Canyon but still offers beautiful views and endless opportunities. The park offers hiking trails as well as handicap-accessible overlooks, making it perfect for all skill levels.
Black Canyon's rim, like the Grand Canyon, is lined with amazing pull-offs, overlooks, and short trails to many different viewpoints of this beautiful park that offer amazing views for every skill level. You can spend a full day driving from the South Rim entrance station to the last overlook along the south rim called High Point.
It took us about 4 hours to fully complete the 14 mile out-and-back drive, including time to stop at all of the roadside overlooks. While driving along this road be sure to look out for the many species that call this land home, including the Black Bear.
