Lake Tahoe is an awesome place to learn SUP. Beautiful, clean water and soft, flat bottom make King's Beach one of the better spots as well. My favorite place to paddle flat water!

Cowell's gets crowded but there are nice, gentle waves to learn on and plenty of good breaks close by if you want to step it up.
Linda Mar can be fun, but it can also get crowded. It is more gentle than Ocean Beach and better for learning. Also good for SUP surfing. Just be nice and share the waves!
Great waves. Lots of space to spread out and find your own peak. Good for SUP surfing too. That said, if you're inexperienced, best to start somewhere else. Very strong currents and rips here, and large, powerful waves on a good swell. Fun!!
