If You're Adventurous, You Should Consider Eloping

Make your wedding the start of another great adventure

By: Cat Ekkelboom-White + Save to a List

There's that feeling that words can't describe when you're out in the middle of nowhere with no sound but the crashing of waves or the whistle of the wind through the trees. That sense of completeness when you escape the city and find a secluded spot that is just for you.

Many of you reading this are a lot like me. You're quiet and shy. You don't like being the centre of attention and you're quite happy spending every weekend with that one special person in your life. But that doesn't mean you don't have a fierce adventurous spirit that is just beaming out of you.

I've recently had the pleasure of witnessing (and photographing) a few elopements, and they are just the most perfect things. There's no fuss. No worrying about things that don't matter like chair covers or colour schemes. They are about two things. Love. And Adventure. Nothing else matters.

Would you celebrate your marriage by running off together into the wilderness to get married? If I could do it again, I would.

We want to acknowledge and thank the past, present, and future generations of all Native Nations and Indigenous Peoples whose ancestral lands we travel, explore, and play on. Always practice Leave No Trace ethics on your adventures and follow local regulations. Please explore responsibly!

Do you love the outdoors?

Yep, us too. That's why we send you the best local adventures, stories, and expert advice, right to your inbox.
