Spahats Creek Falls - Search Nearby - Added by Jordon Conway
Spahats Creek Falls are an easily accessible waterfall located within Wells Gray Provincial Park. The falls rush through a gap in the canyon wall and provide incredible views only a short distance from the parking lot.
Spahats Creek Falls’ parking lot is located 10km North of the town of Clearwater and has washrooms on site. From the lot there is a short path which leads out to the canyon’s edge which is fully fenced for the safety of visitors. It is here that there is a fork in the path; the left trail overlooks the canyon, while the right leads to a wooden viewing platform overlooking the falls. Each side offers excellent photo opportunities.
The viewing platform is fitted with benches and plenty of areas to view the waterfall from which doubles as a great place to have lunch and take in the surroundings! There are interpretive signs here which detail history of the volcanic activity in the area and glaciers which shaped the beautiful canyon walls hundreds of thousands of years prior. The waterfall itself is very unique in the fact that halfway down the canyon wall it flows out spilling into the creek 60m below. Spahats really is a “Hole in the Wall” waterfall of Wells Gray and with such a rewarding experience for the short time commitment definitely worthy of an adventure.
