Description

Added by Andrea Thompson

Take in the waterfalls & endless views packed into a short & easy hike through the Dundas Escarpment. This hike offers amazing colours in the fall, but great at any time of year.

Starting at Webster's Falls, this hike continues down the trail to Tews Falls and then leads to the Dundas Peak, with panoramic views of the surrounding towns, Dundas & Hamilton. This is a short hike and totals around 3km. There are some side trails that could be taken to offer variety and additional trail length on the way back, but for the most part this is an out-and-back hike. The trail itself is dirt with exposed roots and there are a couple of man-made stair cases that have been added in recent years in the steeper sections of trail.

Websters Falls is a beautiful 30 meter high tiered waterfall that, during the summer months, you can swim at the bottom of! Tews Falls towers at 41 meters and is only slightly shorter than Niagara Falls! When you arrive at the Dundas Peak there is an observation rock that is ideal for a picnic lunch on a nice day.

One thing to keep in mind is that this has become quite a tourist area attraction on the weekends. Best to go during the week if you want a more quiet and peaceful experience!

This trail is maintained by Hamilton Parks and there is a $10 parking fee, but it really is well worth it. The trails are clean and well marked, plus the views alone are worth the cost of parking!

Hike the Dundas Escarpment Reviews

The trail was fun and the view at the top was absolutely amazing. The only problem was that there were a lot of people which made it hard to find parking. Other than that, the trip was definitely worth it.

Visited this place last spring and it was amazing! I love all the different waterfalls you can visit

Went and did this last fall. The walk was so beautiful but some of the beauty of nature was taken away by the masses of people walking around.
