Description

Added by Jon Adler

Easy hike just past the crowds of Moraine Lake, Consolation Lake provides you with stunning views of the Rockies

This hike starts at the Moraine Lake parking lot, so there are plenty of spaces available, as well as food, bathrooms, etc. etc... The start of the Consolation trail is near the top of the Moraine Lake rockpile, which you will obviously need to stop at for the famous Moraine Lake Vista shot.  Almost immediately after you start the Consolation trail, the crowds start to disperse, leaving the majority of people at Moraine Lake.

This hike is very easy, very scenic, and the majority is through beautiful green and mostly flat forest. The hike itself is very quickly, but you should absolutely hang out, eat lunch and explore the various rocky outcrops once you arrive at the Upper Lake. The views of the lake with the incredible peaks in the background, rival those anywhere within the Canadian Rockies. It doesn't get the same love and fame as Moraine Lake, but well worth the quick trip.
