Just 30 minutes out of the city of Vancouver, this quick hike offers breathtaking views of the lower mainland. This trail can also be hiked in the winter with snowshoes. Dogs are welcome!
After parking at the north end of the Mt. Seymour parking lot, walk towards the Mystery Peak chairlift. You will see the trailhead on your left, with a map of the park. Snap a quick picture of it on your phone (just in case!) and continue down the trail. It begins as a gravel trail but quickly turns into dirt. There are many, many tree roots to navigate. This hike has minimal overall elevation gain, but you will find yourself going up and down quite a bit. The roots turn out to be helpful in some steeper parts. After about 30 minutes, you will arrive at First Lake. You can go left for the summer trail or right for the winter trail. Once the snow is melted, make sure to go on the summer trail, otherwise you will not be able to get around the lake. The two trails meet up on the far side of the lake. The trail continues for another 40 minutes or so. You will cross little creeks and continue to go up and down little gullies. The path is clearly marked and worn all the way to the top. The top is a clearing of bare rock, with the city to the south and Howe Sound to the west. Have a sit and a snack here and follow the trail back down to the parking lot when you are ready.
