These beautiful falls are in a scenic and secluded area of Northwestern Ontario.
Drive 15 minutes north of the town of Kaministiquia on Silver Falls Road, following the sign to the Ontario Power Generation Plant at the fork. The road is gated approximately 5 minutes past the fork and the trail head is located to the right hand side of the gate.
The trail reconnects with the road a little further up, hike along this road for approximately 1.5 kilometres. At the top of the hill, a blue marker on the right hand sign of the road indicates the turnoff into the forest to continue the hiking trail. Shortly after the turnoff the trail will begin to descend, somewhat steeply, into the gorge with an elevation loss around 100m. At the bottom of the gorge continue following the blue markers to your right. The trail flattens out at the bottom and eventually hits flat rock where you can see the lower Silver Falls, and the Dog Falls above. This water is controlled by a dam so water levels can change rapidly and without warning. Crossing the riverbed is not permitted due to risk of stranding.
